When you live in Shanghai (like me), sometimes you just feel the need to get out of the city, even for a day. There are a lot of water towns around Shanghai. Fengjing and the painters’ village are about an hour away by car from the city centre.

What I like about this place is that it is less crowded that the well known Zhujiajiao or Zhouzhuang. Here what the water town looks like:
